Cocoa Beach

Started out yesterday with a 2+ mile walk on the treadmill.  The weather was not nice at all so I took advantage of that and did six hours of office work.  Felt good to get a little caught up.  Went to John & Betty's for dinner and had wonderful pizza casserole.

Today we went out on a scouting trip- headed south to check out an activity we want to do when the "group" gets here.  I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say- it will be quite an adventure!  By the way, the "group" consists of Terry and Sue, Mike and Laurie, and Chuck and Mary.  They are arriving on January 23 for a week of fun.  So when you hear me say the "group" from now on, you know who you are!

Since we were in the area, we decided to go to Cocoa Beach.  It is a very pretty beach, with fine sand and few sea shells.
We entered at Lori Wilson Park, and between the parking lot and the beachfront we walked through a "semi-tropical maritime hammock", a 1/4 mile loop of pretty vegetation and twisted trees,

From the beach, we went to the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop, where Gordy bought a t-shirt.  The prices had gone up from when we had taken our kids there years ago.  The $5.00 t-shirts were now $20.  He was tempted with buying this new hair-do, especially when a lady walking by him told him he looked like Rod Stewart, but decided he liked his own sleek look well enough.
Before we left for home, we decided to check out Cocoa Beach Pier, and we were glad we did.  I don't know if the lethal Bahama Mama at 12:15 on an empty stomach at Marlin's Good Times Bar & Grill  had anything to do with it, but we had an awful lot of fun.

Eddie, the Bartender

Mai Tiki Bar at the End of the Pier-too windy to have a drink here today, but would be fun on a calmer day.

A few pelicans roost out by Mai Tiki Bar.  They look a lot different up close.  The end of those beaks are razor-sharp!

Our fun time at Cocoa Beach Pier had to end sometime so we headed home.  Since we were going right by Finn's in Flagler Beach, we stopped for appetizers.

The day ended with Gordy & I fixing chicken fajitas and lemon broccoli.  Another good day - what can I say - we really do love it here.

Only 2 days till Karen, Colin & Blake get here!!!
