Road Trip.....Amelia Island

Today we drove about 100 miles north of Palm Coast to Amelia Island.  John & Betty have been here a few times and love it, but it was a first for Gordy & I.  We were a little disappointed to find the ferry across was closed for the month, but within 30 minutes found our way across to the island.  We enjoyed the sights at the waterfront first.

We ate lunch at "The Happy Tomato".  Had barbeque pork sandwiches that were really good.  This was a really neat, fun place to eat.

There are a lot of cute shops in historic downtown Fernandina Beach, and we went into quite a few of them.  We all bought t-shirts, sweatshirts, and/or hats but John was the big shopper of the day, buying in almost every store he went into.  He stopped short of buying this new hair-do; much to my dismay cuz I thought it really looked good on him.
From the shops we went out to Amelia Island Plantation and American Beach.  It seemed like there were seashells everywhere on this beach.
Like most of the beaches here in Florida, it is a beautiful beach.

By now it was getting late in the afternoon, so we took off for our drive back to Palm Coast.  Ended the day with the guys grilling steaks.  Another great day in Florida.  I love it here!
